Skiing in July on the Flett & Russell Glaciers - 7/17
Joining in on the Turns All Year craze, I went to the Flett and Russell Glaciers on Mount Rainier's north side for my 9th month in a row of skiing. Mike and I did a day trip from Seattle - we left at 6:30am for the Spray Park trailhead, started hiking around 9 or 10. It was a 5 mile approach before reaching skinnable snow. We journeyed above Observation Rock, where we had to turn around because my roommate Rob was smoking ribs that day! So I skied from about 8600 ft back down to the trail where the snow ended, hiked out, drove back and had some delicious ribs by 8pm. It's amazing we can do something like this in a day trip!
